Sun QFE (Quad Fast-Ethernet) has arrived

After a long ordeal with a seller on eBay, I've finally received my QFE to put into laplace, which is my Sun Ultra 2. I've intended to take down gauss (a Packard Bell with 128MB of memory that serves as my httpd, smtpd, pop3d, bind, httpd, etc. server) for a long time, as it's been running Solaris 9 for roughly 3 years now. Unfortunately, until now, I've only had the onboard, 'hme' network interface in the Ultra 2. Not that gauss hasn't done a good job, I'd just like to put some of the Solaris 10 technologies to use like zones and ZFS. I haven't quite figured out how I would like partition the services into zones. Grouping mail services, like pop3d, imapd, and smtpd into a single zone sounds logical.

Overall I'm very impressed with the QFE. It came shrink-wrapped, brand new in the original box it shipped in, so it's a bit of history. I don't want to imagine how much a 10/100 NIC with four interfaces would have cost in 1995 (that's the copyright date that's on the documentation).
